Alice Paines

What is your job title?
Event Manager.
How long have you worked at Outsourced Events?
Since August 2022.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
Walkers Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations and Lipbalm. (Sorry I’ve picked two!)
Where is the best place you have travelled to and why?
My favourite city is Paris, I love its wide streets, amazing architecture, and general vibe.
If you could learn to do anything what would it be?
I’ve always wished I was musical, so perhaps something classic like play the piano. I’m always jealous when people have a musical party trick.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
When I have 30 minutes spare I usually give someone a call, whether it’s friends, my mum or a cup of tea with a colleague. I’ll happily spend free time chatting.
What is your favourite thing about working at Outsourced Events?
100% the people. The team is an absolute joy to work with and our clients are fantastic too. I think events can bring out the best in people as they’re often important occasions that require everyone to pull together. That sense of teamwork is a real motivation.
If you could invite four people to dinner (living or dead) who would you invite and why?
This is a really tough question! I’m a massive Aretha Franklin fan, so she’d be my first guest. Then I’d have Michelle Obama, Florence Welch, and Dolly Parton - what an evening that would be…
What was your childhood ambition?
My childhood ambition was to be a ballerina. Apart from having a boogie on a dancefloor at the weekend I’m not sure I got close to that one…
What is your most memorable day at Outsourced Events?
My most memorable day so far at Outsourced Events was the day it was announced that the Queen had died. Although a sad occasion, we were working in Westminster in a venue that was then going to be used as a key part of the next two weeks. Seeing people spring into action and make changes to plans is always impressive - despite how sad the circumstance.
If you could do any job, regardless of skills and training, what would it be?
I love the idea of being a news reporter or a documentary film maker – travelling plus interesting stories would be a good career.
What are the top three items on your bucket list?
1) See the seven wonders of the world 2) Complete the Three Peaks challenge in 24hrs 3) To become fluent in Italian.
What would people never guess you do in your role?
I think people are often surprised about the level of detail I’ll go into, especially when it comes to A/V. I love creating experiences with tech and although I’m not a technician myself, I love working on detailed briefs with the experts we work alongside.
If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
This is another really hard question. I would say perhaps being in the control room for the moon landing - I cannot imagine the satisfaction of working on that project and being the first team to ever do so!
