Any memorable event in our lives has a deep emotion attached to it, whether that’s joy or fear, sadness or delight, it helps us to remember everything about that time. As a marketer, we want our events, our campaigns, and our brand to be just as memorable.
1. Tell stories
This is the world’s oldest marketing technique, you only have to look at stained glass windows in churches around the world to understand how powerful it can be! Your stories need to be relatable, they need to be human and they need to paint a vivid picture for your audience. Instead of relating facts about your latest product in your seminar, include them in a story and give it a personality. Build up a picture via social media, include images and utilise case studies.
2. Build community
Begin with social media before the event, asking questions, sharing hashtags, dripping the story bit by bit to build excitement. The more of your audience’s ideas you incorporate into your event and share, the more personally invested they will feel as valued contributors.
3. Be bigger than your brand
People are naturally inspired by those who are making the world a better place. Be visionary. Show how your product or service helps change or enhance the lives of people in meaningful ways.
4. Create engaging experiences
Music, sports and food all elicit strong memories and even stronger emotions. We are wired to share the things we love and the moments that move us. Jolt the connection with a surprising or memorable moment that people can experience together. They will always remember where they were (at your event!) when it happened.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”
― Helen Keller
