Happy New Year! It’s January, and we know that for many people that means New Year’s resolutions, and Outsourced Events is no different. As a company we have put together resolutions and goals for the New Year.

Following a year which has been described as unprecedented and an omnishambles, it is an understatement to say that people are looking forward to what 2021 has to offer, and at Outsourced Events we are enraptured by what the future holds. 2020 has been a monumental year of adaptation and development both as a team and as a company.

Growth and Development

At Outsourced Events we pride ourselves on becoming an extension to your team, we strive to complete seamless and stress-free digital, in-person and hybrid events alongside our clients. It is with this in mind we wish to continue this growth through developing our expertise. In 2021 Outsourced Events will be expanding and diversifying not only our team to support the volume of work, but also diversifying the services we offer.

I am an example of this investment in team growth and development. In September 2020 my role changed from being an Events Executive to becoming Marketing Executive apprentice; through this role I am studying on a Chartered Institute of Marketing Standard with guidance from my line manager and my course mentor. This apprenticeship has offered me the opportunity to gain a professional qualification while gaining valuable hands-on experience at the same time.

Learning Something New

As a company we have always leaned on each other’s knowledge and experiences to assist us providing the best outcome for our clients. In an ever-changing digital environment, it is important that we continue to impart our knowledge with our colleagues and with clients. Internally we will be encouraging team members to host lunch and learns and creating video vault of handy hints as well as utilising the huge variety of online content, free webinars, and e-courses currently available.

Not only will we be working on developing our internal skills and knowledge, we are looking to provide high quality information to both the MICE industries and our clients’ industries. As thought leaders we will continue to produce reliable and interesting content, delivered through:

Knowledge Sharing

Enable Networking and Community Building

Sharing knowledge is more than putting information out in the ether, it is also building a community in which discussions can be had and experiences shared. We are looking forward to enabling and facilitating conversations on the challenges and issues faced by our clients and how these were overcome. We will be hosting sector specific knowledge exchanges in coming weeks.

Going Above and Beyond

At Outsourced Events we have always been focused on becoming an extension to our clients’ team. We have now become so embedded within their teams we have a holistic view of our client’s marketing and sales strategy. Getting to know our contacts personally allows us to know what they are thinking, before they do, what they need, before they know they need it – delivering that five-star service, satisfying both us and the client.

Encourage a Work/Life Balance

Following ‘Blue Monday’, and looking forward to March when it will mark one year since we all officially left our offices, it is more important than ever to ensure your colleagues mental health. Sitting writing this article in my bedroom, it is obvious to see the lines between work and home blur. Ensuring you are able to keep a balance and separation between both worlds is integral to having healthy employees and a productive work life. Outsourced Events will continue its commitment to sharing good practices with its employees, to being there for each other and encouraging a work/life balance and maintaining a healthy and happy remote working environment.

Remaining Social

Part of encouraging a healthy work/home life balance is remaining social. Just because we are all operating in the virtual sphere does not mean that we cannot remain connected. In fact, it is easier than ever to connect and socialise with each other. Last year we had afternoon tea while watching Wimbledon, we learnt how to bake French brioche twists and focaccia, we attended a still-life class, we had a wine evening, made Christmas table centrepieces and so much more.

Giving Back to the Community

2020 was a tough year for so many, and last year we were very proud to raise £630 for the Coronavirus Relief Fund. This year we will select another charity to support, starting in April 2021, and hope to make a difference to them and those they help. Over the past year we have also been working with Giles Airey who has set up a mentorship programme called The Game Changers to support up and coming junior designers in these tough times. We have enlisted The Game Changers to work on a big design project for us, with some amazing results.

This past fiscal year has seen huge disruptions to the global economy, but it is local shops and standalone businesses which have struggled the most, in 2021 we will continue to engage local suppliers as much as possible.

Going Green

Our future demands that as a species we make a change, from shopping local to recycling we all have a part to play in saving the planet. We are building a portfolio of suppliers with sustainable solutions that we can make available to our clients. The future for hybrid and virtual events is bright and can help reduce the impact our industry has on the environment.

The Launch of Outsourced Engagement

By far one of the most exciting parts of our year will be the launch of a new sister company in the coming months. Outsourced Engagement is a collection of services that we have further developed and invested in to support and satisfy the growing challenges faced by our clients. I don’t want to give too much away, but we extremely enthused about the new opportunities these services will bring to our clients helping them to engage with their current customers, prospects and members and grow their audiences.

Overall, 2020 was a year of change and we are happy that we were able to adapt and innovate throughout, it is with this sentiment we will focus on continuing growth and innovation in 2021.
