In December 2013 we published Outsourced Events’ first EMEA cost-per-delegate benchmarking report. It was so well received and proved such a useful report that six months on, we’ve now updated it. Using our contacts and experience of international events, we’ve investigated two more locations to give you a straightforward cost-per-head comparison of 25 locations, based on a simple, one-day marketing event. You’ll find a link to the report in this issue of theSOURCE.
Our case study this month showcases a user group event we ran for EMC at the Cinecitta Film Studios in Rome, Italy and following the TM Forum in Nice, we look at the capital of the Riviera as a location for events. As we were also in Paris last month, we’ve recommended “un restaurant tres Parisien” and finally our venue of the month is one we used for a corporate golf day in Kinsale Ireland.

I must say, this has been probably the best organised event we have ever attended. The pre-event support was great, you made sure I was aware of the deadlines and met them, without badgering me.

La Gauloise, Paris, France

Serving classic French cuisine, the restaurant has a very traditional feel, with its red banquettes and plenty of mirrors. The service and wine list, as you would expect are impeccable. Within walking distance of Le Tour Eiffel in Montparnasse it rates very high in the Michelin guide.

At the end of May at the Clerkenwell Design Week in London, Philips and Desso, showcased a digital LED carpet. Essentially it’s much like a normal carpet with LED arrays built into the underside that shine through the “light transmissive carpet”. This means that unlike projected displays, the image isn’t interrupted by people walking past. Whilst at the moment, the costs may be prohibitive as a temporary event signage solution, once hotels and conference centres start to install the carpet, event planners will benefit.
